(Press Release) Kuwait Pakistan Friendship Association (KPFA) celebrated the National Days
of Kuwait
and Pakistan on Tuesday,
March 30, 2010 at the grand “Royal Palace” Kuwait
City.
Many distinguished dignitaries including Kuwaiti and Pakistani brothers and
sisters along with KPFA members attended the function. Among the dignitaries who
graced the event were Mr. Barjis Al Barjis, head of Kuwait Red Crescent
Society, Mr. Jamal Al Shahaab, Ex Minister for Law & Labor, Mr. Abdullah
Al Matooq , Ex Minister for Law and Awqaaf and Dr. Abdul Azeem Al Shamalee.
Pakistan’s embassy Charge d affairs, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Saheer was the guest of
honor.
The
program started by playing of national anthems of State of Kuwait
and Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This was followed by the recitation of Holy Quran by Qari Hafiz Abdul
Rehman. The program was conducted by Professor Sajjad-ur-Rehman who in his
welcome note gave historical perspective of cordial relations between the two
brotherly countries. He also highlighted and appreciated the role played by
Sabah family in making Kuwait a progressive nation among the world
communities. Professor Sajjad also highlighted the significance of Feb 25 and
Mar 23, in the history of two nations.

In his speech Mr. Barjis Al
Barjis, appreciated the role, KPFA was playing in cementing close relations
between the people of the two Kuwait
and Pakistan.
He emphasized on to further strengthen these relations with active interaction,
mutual understanding and friendship.
The guest of honor Dr.
Sajjad Ahmad Sheer Charge d’ Affairs, Embassy of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan gave an overview of the relations between Pakistan and
Kuwait. He cited numerous cases where the Kuwaiti
Government and people reached out to Pakistan in times of their needs. He
also reminded the role Pakistan Army played in clearing mines after the
liberation of Kuwait from Iraq in 1991 and appreciated the positive role
being played by the 150,000 strong Pakistanis professionals working in
Kuwait. He expressed his views on the importance of Pakistan National Day
which is celebrated all over the world and in homeland. Pakistan’s
ideology is credited to its clear conceptualization by Allama Mohammad Iqbal
who envisioned a nation for Muslims where they could freely practice Islam.
Under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on 23rd
March 1940 a resolution was passed at Minar Pakistan Lahore for a separate
homeland for muslims. As a result of this resolution and materializing the
dream of Allama Mohammad Iqbal into reality, Pakistan emerged as a sovereign
and independent state on the 14th August 1947. At the end he
congratulated KPFA for organizing such an event which bring closer the two
communities and highlighted the importance of conducting such programs to
bring closer the two communities and also stressed to promote commercial,
academic and cultural ties between the two nations.

The Patron KPFA Mr. Mubarak
Sadoun Al-Mutawa highlighted KPFA mission which is to cultivate close mutual
understanding and friendship between the two communities. Kuwait and Pakistan share so much in their
identity and character. They have common faith, value systems and cultural
traditions. He stressed on the common bond of relationship that is Islam. Kuwait is located in the center of Arabian Peninsula, which is the heart of the Islamic
civilization. Pakistan
was created in the name of Islam. Kuwait has gone through patches
of good and bad times and it has survived and thrived under the kind
leadership of the ruling dynasty and the commitment of its people that even
after its foreign occupation, today it is even a stronger and scar–free
nation. He said he was proud to be Patron of KPFA and loved Pakistan as a
strong nation and admired its role in the Muslim world. Towards the end the
president of KPFA Ran Ijaz Hussain Sohail thanked the distinguished Kuwaiti
guests for gracing this occasion of joint celebration of the national days of
the two brotherly nations of Kuwait and Pakistan. He also thanked Dr. Sajjad
Ahmed Saher Charge D’ Affairs Pakistan Embassy on behalf of KPFA and
Pakistani community for making efforts for cultivating strong ties between
the two nations. He also thanked and commended the efforts of Honorable
Mubarak Sadoun Al-Mutawa for his patronage of KPFA and having infallible love
and dedication for Pakistan
and the Pakistani community. He also thanked the members of Kuwait and
Pakistani community who made this occasion so special and memorable sparing their
valuable time to attend this event. As the dinner was served the audience
enjoyed the presentations titled “Kuwait Before & Now” and “Colors of
Pakistan” which was greatly applauded.
The patron and president KPFA thanked the organizing committee
and all EC members for their combined efforts in arranging and making this
event successful.
